I will probably go to hell for this

I usually blog about business and economic issues, but I thought today I would risk making the largest religious organization in the world mad at me. You may not know but the Pope is visiting Africa and today he emphasized the churches opposition to the use of condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS. REALLY? You are on a continent where 25 million people a year die from a disease and the spread of that disease can be stopped cheaply and effectively by using condoms. Sure there are all kinds of other issues involved in the spread of AIDS and I am sure the Roman Catholic Church thinks they are doing the Biblical right thing by promoting "other" safe sex practices. But maybe this is one time where the church needs to be a little more "in the world" while still not being "of the world".
